Live-Action ‘Aladdin’ Sequel IS Coming, and it Won’t Follow ‘Return of Jafar’ Storyline

Disney has just shared that the sequel to the very successful live-action ‘Aladdin‘ will NOT Follow ‘Return of Jafar‘ Storyline.

John Gatins and Andrea Berloff are currently at work creating a new script for the live-action ‘Aladdin‘ sequel, which is said to be it’s own sequel and will NOT follow the storyline of the established animated sequel Aladdin: The Return of Jafar.

According to Variety, Naomi Scott, Mena Massoud, and Will Smith have yet to be asked to reprise their roles as Jasmine, Aladdin, and Genie, but will likely be given an offer after an official script is approved by Disney.

In addition, Disney has also confirmed that the film will receive a theatrical release, and not on Disney+ like previously thought. Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich are set to return to produce the sequel, it is currently unknown if Guy Richie will return to direct the Aladdin sequel. Our guess is no, but, who knows.
