Hurricane Milton Rapidly Strengthening and Will Borderline Cat 5 Intensity as it Heads Towards Walt Disney World

Hurricane Milton is now a Category 4 Hurricane. In a special 9 AM update from the National Hurricane Center (NHC), new reconnaissance data reveals that Hurricane Milton has rapidly intensified with maximum sustained winds reaching 150 mph.

With Hurricane Milton’s intensity and its projected path taking it near or directly over Walt Disney World, we anticipate closure announcements from the resort soon.

Based on current information, we expect Walt Disney World to announce the full closure of all four theme parks, Disney Springs, and its water parks on Wednesday, October 9th. There is also a strong possibility of at least a delayed opening, if not a full closure, on Thursday, October 10th.

As of now, Walt Disney World has not provided a public update since yesterday afternoon. For the latest official updates, please visit their weather updates page: Walt Disney World Weather Updates.
