Dumbo (2019) Review

Mouse-Ka-Score: 7/10

After reading countless reviews from critics and comments from social media platforms we had it in our minds that Dumbo was not that good. Rotten Tomatoes gives this movie a 50%, fans from CinemaScore giving it an A-minus. We disagree with the critics score and our score is closer to the fans.

As far as how it did at the box office, it was the top movie this week hitting $45 million domestically and and $71 million overseas, all for a grand total of $116 million. The reported budget of the movie was $170 million.

Unlike the original Dumbo, this version has humans in it, those being Danny DeVito, Collin Farrell, Eva Green and Michael Keaton. DeVito, the owner of a circus that is bought out by a theme park mogul (Keaton), who intends to use the flying elephant at any expense, including, Dumbo’s mother. Overall, it was a pretty good movie, not so much for the smaller children, however. Personally, we wouldn’t recommend anyone under the age of 7-8 going to see this movie. It’s just not the attention grabber that kids are drawn to.

Dumbo, however, is not the last live-action movie coming out this year, Aladdin, Lion King, and Maleficent 2 are still coming later this year.
