Halle Bailey will be cast as Ariel in the Live-Action ‘The Little Mermaid’ according to Walt Disney Studios. This film will be directed by Rob Marshall and produced by Marshall, John DeLuca, Marc Platt, and Lin-Manuel Miranda. The film will feature the classic beloved songs in addition to some new ones created by no other than Alan Menken and new lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda.
Although still not confirmed, just a couple days ago we found out that Melissa McCarthy is most likely to be cast as Ursula. Find that post here.
