Tropical Storm Fred to Possibly Impact Florida

LAST UPDATED: AUGUST 13, 2021

Last night the National Hurricane Center (NHC) issued their advisory upgrading the wave out in the Atlantic Ocean to Tropical Storm Fred.

Although models show that Fred will not intensify to Hurricane status due to wind shear, anything could happen as hurricanes are extremely unpredictable. It’s also unlikely at this point that the storm will directly impact central Florida, the rain bands will mostly be felt across the entire state along with the eastern Gulf of Mexico states.

As it stands now, Florida is on the eastern side of the cone which is known to be the “bad side” of the storm. Sustained winds are still expected to be around 39-73mph.

Right now, Disney has not issued any changes to park hours or showtimes. We expect not to hear anything until a more certain path is defined. For guests preparing to visit the resort this weekend into early next week, be sure to bring the rain gear!
