A woman Wednesday March 4, 2020, jumped from The Contemporary Resort in an apparent suicide according to Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

A number of people took to social media Wednesday afternoon, wondering what prompted the large law enforcement response at the resort.

Officials with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said they were called to the Contemporary Resort around 4 p.m. after people reported seeing someone jump from the building.

Deputies and officials from Disney’s Reedy Creek Improvement District said they found a woman dead when they arrived.

“ON 3/4/2020 AT ABOUT 4 P.M., DEPUTIES RESPONDED TO THE CONTEMPORARY RESORT AFTER A CALL CAME IN ABOUT SOMEONE WHO MAY HAVE JUMPED OFF THE BUILDING. DEPUTIES AND REEDY CREEK IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT RESPONDED AND FOUND A FEMALE, UNRESPONSIVE, WHO WAS LATER PRONOUNCED DECEASED ON SCENE. AT THIS TIME, WE BELIEVE THIS WAS A SUICIDE, AND WE HAVE NO FURTHER INFORMATION TO RELEASE.”
